2010 - 2011 NATIONAL CONCERTO COMPETITION* The 44th National Concerto Competition* for pianists Preliminaries and semi-finals will be held on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 8th - 10th December 2010. Final will be held on Saturday 12th March 2011. Second Prize: $3,000.00 Third Prize: $1,500.00 Unplaced semi-finalists each receive $700.00 People's Choice Award: $150.00 Youth Jury prize: $100.00 Adjudicators: Prof. Michael Endres (Pianist, Head of Piano Studies University of Canterbury.) Sarah Watkins (Pianist, New Zealand Trio) Richard Mapp (Artist, Teacher, NZ School of Music, Pianist New Zealand Quartet.) Finalists will be accompanied by the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir William Southgate.

Congratulations to Winners: First Prize - Edward King - Auckland - Cello Concerto No. 1 Op 107 - Shostakovich Second Prize & Audience Prize - Emma Yoon - Christchurch - Violin Concerto Op 14 - Barber Third Prize & Junior Adjudicator Panel Prize - Harry Ellerm - Christchurch - Violin Concerto No 5 Op 37 - Vievxtemps. Semi-finalists not chosen for the final were:- Anna Kiriaev - Christchurch - Violin Concerto in D Minor - Khachaturian Thomas Hutchinson - Auckland - Oboe Concerto - Vaughan Williams Hy In Kim - Christchurch - Cello Concerto No 1 in A Minor Op 33 - Saint Saens Trinity Guild Hall Prize for Entrants with most potential and promise:- Annabel Drummond - Dunedin - Violin Concerto in D Minor - Wieniawski Catherine Sun Ho Kwak - Christchurch - Cello Concerto in B Minor Op 104 - Dvorak. Finalists were accompanied by the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir William Southgate.
